Welcome to
TheReuseSite.com. My name is Carrie and I have been an avid reuser for
years. I love garage sales and thrift stores and am a regular at
Habitat for Humanity ReStore (if you have one in your area, be sure to
check it out). I believe everything (and everyone) deserves a second
chance. I grew up with parents that reupholstered and painted old
furniture and could always find a new use for an old object. They are
my inspiration.
Recycling and reusing are not new, of course. From pioneer women using
old clothing to make quilts and rag rugs to making new aluminum cans
from old, recycling has been around for hundreds of years. People used
to survive on their ability to use what they had. Maybe our survival
doesn't depend on making birdhouses from old barn wood, but the spirit
of ingenuity can make all our lives better, and perhaps extend the life
of our landfills.
The purpose for this site is to share ideas about reusing, recycling
and rebuilding items before they end up in the landfill. The best
compliment I can hear is, "Wow! I would have never thought to use that
in that way". I have not included detailed instructions with specific
supplies on purpose. The idea is to inspire you with my ideas, and to
find new uses for your own junk. I know that I have only scratched
the surface and I would love to hear from other reusers! Please don't
submit anything that is copy write protected. And, this is a
family-friendly site, so please keep it clean, unless it pertains to
gardening.
If you have ideas to submit, please email me at: carrie@thereusesite.com. To leave a comment or suggestion, please click on my GUEST BOOK.
I will use every idea I can. If you include a photo (which would be
nice! We want to see your finished project), please try to make it a
reasonable size. If you want me to include your name or user name,
please tell me. I don't want to publish anyone's name who doesn't want
me to. And, please include where you are from!
I'm just starting out, so please check back on occasion to see what new
ideas we have come up with. I welcome ideas and suggestions. And,
Happy Reusing!
