SCRUBBY MADE FROM MESH ORANGE BAGS
I got this from my sister Abby. She has been crocheting scrubbies out of mesh bags for years. They are durable and last a long time. Better yet, you aren't putting plastic mesh into the landfill where animals can get caught and hurt. These can be washed in hot water with your kitchen towels and washcloths, in your dishwasher, or by hand in soapy bleach water. Air dry. When they are worn out, toss them in the recycle bin. I have seen people use netting that they buy in fabric stores to crochet scrubbies, but I find it too soft to be durable, and I like to use free materials when I can, because I'm cheap! I don't have a specific pattern. I'm not the world's best crocheter, but any circle or square pattern will do. Make up your own! |

I had several of these mesh bags in a drawer. I think spring bulbs came in them. I finally got around to using them! |

I folded them in half long ways. And then again. |

I cut 1 inch sections to make a pile of loops. |

I looped the loops together. Be careful when you tighten them, some bags tend to tear. Some mesh is stronger than others. |

Until
I had a long string of looped mesh loops!! How loopy. Then, I just
started a simple pattern: ch4, sc in 4th ch to make a loop, sc around,
ch in each sc to increase (so it lays flat). As the circle gets bigger,
I ch in each sc more. Make sense? If you aren't a crocheter, my
directions won't make sense. You can find crochet patterns on the
internet. I'm no expert. Send me pictures of your scrubbies! |
